Tips for Managing Distress in the Aftermath of a Shooting

The Office of Victim Assistance staff send our deepest condolences to people impacted by the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.  For information on tips for managing distress in the aftermath of a shooting please go the link below from the American Psychological Association.

In an effort to address concerns prompted by last week’s events in Connecticut, our Faculty Staff Assistance Program at University of Colorado Boulder will be offering a session, entitled, Talking with our Children about Violence, on Thursday December 20th.  The disturbing events of last Friday have brought up many questions regarding how to talk with our children about violence in the community.  Please join the counselors of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program at the lunch hour for a conversation and information session about how to help your children understand and cope with school violence.

Speakers: Ben Leonard and Paulette Erickson-England, staff counselors from the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.
